Given the recent FAL threads, I thought I’d start one with images of a Commonwealth L1A1 in the “inch” pattern. Around 1993, it first appeared as a Century Arms UK kit. Before receiving a kit that met my needs, I returned two others. While the barrel and furniture were in great shape, many of the smaller parts were in disrepair. For the “bits and pieces,” I started buying new parts, but they were all made in Australia. The receiver was purchased when EAI began playing such commercials in SGN. It was developed at California’s Buena Park while EAI was still a small business. BUY L1A1 SLR BUENA PARK RIFLE

Later, I discovered an NIW Australian barrel for $150.00 (IIRC) at The Dealer Warehouse. It was eventually finished for me by Entreprise Arms.
When TAPCO received all those new Aussie Parts, I ordered a quantity. The rifle, which was otherwise fully Australian (apart from the American Receiver and compliance components, of course), finally received an NIW coachwood buttstock and pistol handle. I had to settle for a used pair of handguards because new ones are practically impossible to find. I partially restored them using oven cleaning and light sanding. The metal is still in the same condition as when I discovered it. If I can locate some authentic aluminum rivets, I’ll remove, media blast, park, and paint. If they don’t, they’ll merely end up giving the firearm more personality.
A few months back, I managed to track down the steel band that encircles the rubber eyepiece of the optical. BUY L1A1 SLR BUENA PARK RIFLE

to keep it running I attempted to attach the rubber with glue, but it only worked for a few days.
I’ve come close to selling her half a dozen times over the years, but I’ve always decided against it. She’s a joy to photograph, therefore I’m happy. Although I prefer the M14 to the L1A1, the L2A2 Trilux shoots the ball with a 1.25 MOA, making her a keeper.
The “UK cut” receiver is currently being installed in that UK kit. If you receive an L1A1, be cautious because “one” might not be enough because they can become addictive. BUY L1A1 SLR BUENA PARK RIFLE
Important turning points in Singapore’s history include the arrival of the first European settlers, immigrants, and the growth of the early trading settlement; Singapore’s submission to Crown rule when the East India Company’s charter lease expired and the Company shut down; the brief military occupation under the Japanese Sphere of Asiatic Co-Prosperity; and the rising tide of nationalism following World War II. To what extent, in addition to historical information tracing the island’s development into a commercial hub, can the archaeological record provide a unique dimension to these known milestones?

Numerous thousands of cartridge cases, bullets, pieces of army gear, clothing, relics from Native Americans, and the skeletal remains of soldiers who perished on June 25, 1876 were found at the location. The computer-assisted analysis of the distribution of artifacts on the battlefield shed light on how the opposing sides made advantage of the topography. The identification of the thousands of recovered rounds improved our knowledge of the role played by the firearm in the conflict. Most importantly, the archaeological dig made clear in great detail how the 7th Cavalry under Colonel George Cluster was outnumbered, outarmed, and outfought by the Native American foes.

Interest in Fort Serapong was aroused by the Fort Tanjong Katong archaeological expedition (2004–2005).ik
At one point in their development, the forts housed a pair of Elswick Vickers Armstrong 8-inch breech loading guns, which were not typical of British coast defense weaponry. Four identical 8-inch cannons were installed in Singapore in 1885, and because Tanjong Katong has no archaeological artifacts related to their position there, Fort Serapong was the only other site they were placed in.
Few historical documents and firsthand accounts from the area were the main sources of information for Fort Serapong’s history. We consulted reputable sources.

It had also gone unnoticed that the fort served as Blakang Mati’s command center during the 1942 battle for Singapore. Fort Serapong was going to be put to the test during the Battle for Singapore in World War II, and studying the fort may help us better comprehend Singapore’s military past.
The rest of Singapore’s fortifications were linked with Fort Serapong, which did not exist in a vacuum. When used in conjunction with other batteries, its fire range is intended to offer overlapping coverage. The only two forts in the British Empire to break from the norm were Fort Serapong and Fort Tanjong Katong, both of which used identical brands and calibers of guns.BUY L1A1 SLR BUENA PARK RIFLE

Fort Serapong and its sister forts were constructed in reaction to the perceived regional and global threat posed by rival European powers in the area. The industrial revolution, improvements in steamship technology, and the opening of the Suez Canal led to Singapore becoming the Empire’s most significant and largest coaling station in the Far East, not only for the fueling of the Royal Navy but also for the merchant marine, the latter of which was the lifeline of trade and economics for Singapore, the Strait Settlements, the Dutch East Indies, the Commonwealth, and the British Empire as a whole.

The history of Blakang Mati before the arrival of the Europeans is little understood. The phrase “Blakang Mati,” which translates to “Death from Behind” or “Behind the Dead” in Malay, is ominously ominous and may lend credence to local pirate legends.
There may be some truth to the pirate stories. Chinese trader-travelers from the 14th century described sailing past the navigational landmark “Long Ya Men” (Dragon Tooth Gate) and into the territory of the pirates. 9
“The strait passes between the two similar-looking hills of the Dan-ma-xi barbarians.”
